An early 1990's view of the Kankwari fort where Dara Shikoh was held captive. Kankwari fort was built by Raja Jai Singh I of Amber who was a senior general in Aurangzeb’s army and grandson of Raja Man Singh, one of the nine jewels of Akbar’s court. The fort looks abandoned and has a lovely old world feel to it. The surrounding area is dry and barren. The fort is constructed on a hill, so one can see a clear view of the surrounding land.
