An aerial view of the Gaurikund waterfalls at Gangotri, along the young Ganga river. Gauri Kund and Surya Kund are waterfalls on river Bhagirathi, located around 500 metres away from Gangotri temple. It is the most spectacular part of Gangotri. The power and strength with which the waterfalls on the rocks is simply fantastic. Surya Kund is a place where pilgrims offer their prayers to the Hindu Sun God. Gauri Kund and Surya Kund in Gangotri is famous for Mountaineering, Temple, Dams, Lakes, Waterfall, Scenic activities. It is believed that there is a Shiva Linga downstream immersed in water which is being washed by the waterfall all the time. It is also known as submerged Shiving. Visitors could reach the waterfalls by taking the walkway past the Dandi Kshetra and Tapovan Kuti ashrams. Th
