Known for its stunning shades of deep blue and turquoise, the lake famously changes colors throughout the day depending on sunlight and weather conditions. Surrounding the lake are vast barren mountains of the Trans-Himalayan region, displaying dramatic shades of brown, grey, and tan. The rocky shoreline in the foreground, covered with gravel, sand, and pale stones, reflects the harsh cold desert environment typical of Ladakh’s extreme high-altitude terrain.
