The Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee delivered his speech from the ramp paths of the Red Fort to mark the concluding India's 50th anniversary of independence he was unsure of the fate of his five months old government. But as the year came to an end the fact remains that the Vajpayee government has survived and the obvious question that arises is how has this come about. The splintering of United Front allowed for regional like Mulayam Singh Yadav of Samajwadi Party and Lalu Prasad Yadav of RJD to come together and floored the Rashtriya Loktantrik Morcha. The Morcha also look towards the Congress to topple the central government.
