Atal Bihari Vajpayee was sworn in as the 9th Prime Minister of India on 19th of March 1998 at Rashtrapati Bhawan in New Delhi. He takes oath in front of the 10th President of India K. R. Narayanan. He was adding the coalition of 14 parties led by the Bhartiya Janata Party bound together by national agenda for governance which they had agreed upon. The coming to power at the center the BJP led coalition in this the 50th year of independence was not lost to many commentators. In broad terms, the results of the election in 1998 which constituted the 12th Lok Sabha was no different from the dissolved 11th Lok Sabha.
