A relatively new bank financed Ford tractor stands next to a sign-board that reads Gurgaon Gramin Bank, Dhankot. The rural economy is dependent on farm income which is tax free in India. Rural credit is also taking shape through a wider network of local and national banks branches. Only in India - a cow stands outside the bank.
