Tekeli Pitha is a steamed rice cake with coconut or Sesame seeds. - A breakfast delicacy of Assam. These steamed cakes can be either salty or sweet. “Tekeli mukhot diya pitha" meaning of this is- to make the pitha by placing and steaming it on the mouth of a tekeli i.e. a pitcher or a kettle. Bhogali Bihu is celebrated in mid of January, on the first day of 'Magh' month of Assamese Calendar. 'Bhogali' means handiness of rich food. So Bhogali Bihu represents a festival of food.
