This man is bathing his very bony cows at the edge of the Chambal river on the boundary between Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh. A cow nurses and licks her new-born calf, at the edge of Ranthambhor National Park and along the Chambal nadi of dacoit fame. The Chambal flows wide and relatively shallow during the winter months. This old footage was filmed by wildfilmindia in its nascent days circa 1991, on vintage Betacam SP tapes. Archival olden days footage of Sawai Madhopur, Ranthambhor / Ranthambore in Rajasthan. One can see the ramparts of Khandar fort at the edge of Ranthambore, as a woman pulls up water from her open well on the village's outskirts. A copper urn is sent down to bring up the water. In the good old India, water was freely available at a depth of 3-0 to 40 feet. Ground water
