An Indian-born writer-director Meera Syal talks about her film, an adaptation of her very successful book. Help us identify her. She says: "I saw Ayesha in The Terrorist. She was the perfect choice. When I mother was Ayesha's age, she looked exactly the same. Anita is the star, for Meena. This film is totally through a little girls' eyes. It was shot in the Midlands where I grew up. The film has done really well in Britain, as it came out the week before Harry Potter. People here enjoy films about the Asian-British experience. Bombay Dreams is a Bollywood-themed musical, with music by A. R. Rahman, lyrics by Don Black and the book by Meera Syal and Thomas Meehan, originally produced by Andrew Lloyd Webber.
