Fortunately, it was only a brief forest fire that hit Flag Hill and the hills around the Jabarkhet Nature Reserve in Mussoorie, and was quickly extinguished by locals, in April 2022. Careless visitors and tourists throw semi-burned cigarettes or bidis and cause incalculable damage to forests, biota, insects and nesting birds, among other denizens.
