From the archive record

Colourful tableaux move along Kartavya Path in New Delhi during Republic Day parade presentations. One float features a metallic-blue futuristic human head with an open top revealing mechanical gears, accompanied by performers in blue tracksuits and helmets, some riding bicycles. Another tableau represents the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), with a simulated flood scene, an inflatable rescue boat and personnel wearing protective suits and breathing masks. These displays highlight themes of technological development, emergency response and disaster rescue. Crowds watch from tiered stands as Indian national flags line the parade route.
