From babies, pets, children and others, everyone seeking a relief either walk through the flood to the safer areas or wait for rescue workers to rescue them through rafts and boats. Even though the government had started the rescue work, the locals of Kerala did not give up and worked around the clock to rescue anyone and everyone in the flood-stricken Kerala. Aid agencies and government groups had set up more than 4,000 relief camps, while rescue personnel made their way to submerged villages in helicopters and boats, bringing supplies, and evacuating those they can find. Weeks of heavy rainfall had caused dams to open their floodgates, triggered landslides in the mountains, and swamped the coastal regions of Kerala.
