Fly over the field of chortens or stupas near Shey and also over Thiksey Gompa in Ladakh. Scattered across a field next to the Indus river, is one of the largest chorten fields of Ladakh, with hundreds of chortens. Thiksey Gompa or monastery is linked to the Gelug sect of Tibetan Buddhism and is an awe-inspiring structure that sits on top of a hill just outside Leh town.
