The large-scale preparation of a traditional community feast during a village celebration in Odisha, India. Local cooks work in a temporary outdoor kitchen, deep-frying fresh fish in a massive iron kadhai over heavy-duty burners. Using long-handled ladles, the cooks carefully monitor the fish as it fries in hot oil. Nearby, large aluminium and stainless steel pots contain rice, curries, and other dishes prepared for the gathering. The open-air cooking area is equipped with propane cylinders and oversized cooking vessels to serve a large number of guests.
