No social distancing, no masks as hundreds gather on the banks of a river amid chants of devotional music from the loudspeakers. Devotees mostly women in sarees are seen with a thali or plate filled with items to offer to the deities. Chhath puja is mostly celebrated by Hindus in North Indian states and is a festival worshipping the sun god Surya and his consorts. This puja is held at dawn and dusk as it is believed that the sun's powers are strongest at these times. Devotees pray mostly for well being of their children and family.
