Garhmukethwar ghat evening aarti prayers at Garh Ganga on the Ganges river in Uttar Pradesh Garhmukteshwar Ganga Ghat beyond Meerut is the closest one gets to the Ganges river when coming from Delhi, for Ganga darshan or asthi visarjan, as the case may be. The need for asthi visarjan has gone up greatly after Covid19 and this makes for a shorter journey than going all the way to Haridwar. Boats zip up and down the river from the Garhmukteshwar brudge, with many people busily performing ablutions and offering prayers and offerings to the river eternal. Others can be seen with packets and bags emptying out the ashes and remains of family members lost in recent days.
