An artisan in Meerut paints the Ganesh idols at his workshop bright orange as the Ganesha devotees gear for the Ganesh Chaturthi festival in the late monsoon. The artist uses airbrush to paint the elephant head of the Hindu god. Ganesh Chaturthi is the celebration to commemorate the descend of the elephant headed god, Ganesha or Ganesh or Ganpani from the Kailash mountains. This is celebrated with rituals and the final immersion of the idols in water. Festivals in India are a grand affair like nowhere else and are a congregation of thousands and even millions.
