“I am Yuvraj Chhetri, one of the coordinators of this Winter festival. We worked on it for around four to five days. Although the time was very short, it turned out to be a valuable first-time experience and a successful one for us. The core idea behind this festival was to introduce a new concept—not only to promote tourism in Kalimpong, which has traditionally been a very selective destination, but also to educate people. As someone involved in the field of education, I strongly believe in broadening perspectives. Many people in Kalimpong have not had the opportunity to see much of India or the world. In Nepali, we describe this mindset as ‘the frog in the pond’—someone who is unaware of what lies beyond their immediate surroundings. Through this festival, we aimed to open that window an
