Crazy canvases: the story of dustbin art in Lodi Gardens, in Delhi

Painting dustbins, colouring the world of trash. The project was started in 2013 with artists and amateurs painting approximately 50 dustbins in Lodi Garden, New Delhi. Both artists and amateurs contributed their skills and materials to the project, without remuneration. A certificate and memento of this joined project by the NDMC and Delhi street art were given to all the artists, as a thank you for their efforts. For most Delhiites, Lodi garden is the go-to place for picnics, a morning walk or to shake off the big city feeling for a moment… For one individual, Yogesh Saini, a regular jogger in the garden, the replacement of the old dustbins he saw one morning, turned into a new way to showcase art. Graffiti, colouring the world of bridges, pillars and run-down buildings are no longer
