Cars rush over the flooded roads at traffic rush hour in New Delhi. Brown water wells up from below the flyover. Chocolate milk shake, anyone? Cars and three-wheeler auto rickshaws plough through deep water as they approach the All India Institute of Medical Sciences AIIMS or Medical Flyover going towards INA Market. Water pumps have been set up impromptu alongside the road to pump out water from the road. Imagine - this is New Delhi, a world-class city, supposedly! The Public Works Department tries each year to dredge the drains by illegally sending in personnel to undertake a dangerous and demeaning job. They do not improve the drainage systems themselves.
