For carving, you would need tools such as a carving knife, gouge, chisel, hammer, stone and others. This young man is using a chisel as a tool for shaping and sharpening the wooden animal mask. at the end of the video, you would be able to see various kind of famous Bhutanese character masks with a Buddhist religious character like a Bhaap of a Khasa (Deer Mask), Denagchung mask( mask of the god of the death), Astara mask (clown mask) and masks of various gods and goddesses. These masks are worn during special events like Tsechus (Festival) and other occasions in Bhutan. They are often used more by the monks and lamas to do the cham dances and can be used as beautiful wall hangings as well.
