The drawing of the design is carved into a flat piece of wood. In this video, you would be able to see the artist removing the sketch and carving on the wood using a chisel. In the background, there is an interesting fact about the art of four harmonious friends- elephant monkey, rabbit and the bird which has a special story about a fruit tree. the painting of the four friends was brought to Bhutan by Rinpoche Zhabdung Ngawang Namgyal in 1616. It is about friendship and living in harmony. You can also see the carving of wooden Dungkar, Yangchen (Bhutanese guitar), Dragon (The Dragon is probably the most important creature in the mysticism of Bhutan.
