Along with Farida Jalal, Amrish Puri, Anupam Kher, Mukesh Rishi and Akanksha.This film was Puneet Issar' s directorial debut, dealing with Mumbai Underworld and politics in Maharashtra. The film was initially titled Sanghar. Producer Sunil Mehta: 'When I signed Salman Khan, we were the first cop film to be announced in India, ironically when the movie released in July 2004, we were the last cop film to be released. Khaki was launched after Rajkumar Santoshi got completed and released first, Dev was released before us, police force and all Akshay Kumar film got released before us. that affects the charm, had it been the first cop film released'.
