Located on the western side of the Fort Aguada which is one of the oldest forts in Goa, the Fort Aguada Old Lighthouse was built by the Portuguese army as a watch tower to protect Goa from her enemies. At one point of time, the lighthouse contained the Great Bell from the Church of St. Augustine in Old Goa, which was later moved to Panaji. The Mandovi River, also known as Mahadayi or Mhadei river, is described as the lifeline of the state of Goa, India. The river has a length of 77 kilometers, 29 km in Karnataka and 52 kilometers in Goa. It originates from a cluster of 30 springs at Bhimgad in the Western Ghats in the Belgaum district, Karnataka.
