Wild boars forage at a waterbody in the endangered Mangroves forest of Sundarbans near Sagnekhali watchtower. A water monitor lizard feeds on mudskippers in a pond. A monitor lizard has the ability to speed till 15 km at a stretch. The unique ecosystem of the Sundarbans is home to various species of animals, birds, fishes and reptiles. One such species, monitor lizard, roams the Sundarbans marshes and swamps blending perfectly with the exposed roots of the Mangrove forest. Walking through the wetland searching for food in the form of fish, eggs or other mammals, however, here it is searching for eggs as it keeps looking through holes or burrows in the forest.
