The International Music Festival of India was inaugrated last month by an evocative perfomance by composer Philip Glass. Glass was greatly influenced the younger generation of American composers returned to India the country that has had a profound impact on his work. Music composer Philip Glass speaks about his music, he says, I was very impressed particularly by the ideas of rythemic structure because it doesn't have that particular or if you take it out of the context of new music it doesn't sound particularly Indian and it can be used in any kind of music at that time it was very important focus on me and over the next 10 or 15 years. I worked into the vocabulary into the language of my music today it's behind everything in a way the idea of using rhythym as structure is not everything
