Ceremonial 'Water Sweeping' or 'Chhera Pahara' to move deities - Jagannath Rath Yatra

Priests and a leader performs the ritual of sweeping the path to be taken by the makeshift wooden chariot with a golden coloured broom and sprinkling sandalwood water and powder. This is known as 'Chhera Pahara'. This is usually done by the king back in the days and it signifies that everyone is the same in front of lord Jagannath. The deities are then moved from the temple to the chariot which will be pulled by the devotees. The festival this year is attended by only few devotees due to the Coronavirus Pandemic and participants are seen with masks. The famous Jagannath Rath Yatra at Delhi's Sree Neelachala Seva Sangha Jagannath Temple in Hauz Khas is participated by thousands every year.
