The first DCP of Crime against women cell Smt. K. Deol speaks about the crime against women cell, she says, "We were getting complaints of women being harassed and killed for dowry at that time and we have heard it through the press and voluntary groups. The Government had this pressure at that time that Government should take a serious step to stop crime against women so the Government started crime against women cell for the first time in Delhi Police and I was the first Deputy Commissioner of this cell. Mostly, we encounter cases like harassment of women after their marriage by their husbands and in-laws and we are still getting these types of cases because women are considered low than men in status.
