This year the mantle falls in Mr. P. Chidambaram the finance minister of the United Front Government but for him it is going to be an herculean task to balance the undercurrents of the different ideologies emerging out of a coalition of 13 political parties. For Mr. Chidambaram this task becomes even more difficult as he has to accommodate the diverse aspirations of parties supporting the government from the outside the Left party is demanding a people friendly budget and the Congress the party that wants the economic reforms process to continue.
