The Lion-tailed Macaque (Macaca silenus) moves skillfully through the forest canopy, climbing high into the trees with remarkable agility. One individual hangs effortlessly from leafy branches, nibbling on fruits or tender shoots while balancing with its long tail. Its distinctive silver-white mane framing the dark face makes it instantly recognisable among primates. Around it, other members of the troop remain scattered across the treetops, resting, observing, or foraging quietly among the dense foliage. Endemic to the Western Ghats of India, this endangered species thrives in evergreen rainforests where it spends most of its life in the upper canopy. The scene beautifully captures their arboreal lifestyle, social behaviour, and graceful adaptation to life among towering trees.
