Even after the monsoon season, Dhankar lake remains dry yet it is one of the most beautiful secrets of the Spiti valley. At the confluence of the Pin and Spiti river lies the Dhankar village, with a population of a few, the village remains a ghost town and completely abandoned during the winters. Dhankar lake is the reason why people visit this place, although just a 45min trek to the lake yet a very difficult one as the rubble along with thin air makes it challenging to trek. The prize for winning this challenge is indeed a very special one, you get to see one of the most magnificent lakes of the Spiti valley.
