A cluster of Bombay Night Frogs (Nyctibatrachus humayuni) gathers near a rushing waterfall, their small bodies struggling against the strong flow. Caught in the chaos of splashing water, they climb onto a fallen branch, using it as a safe escape route. Some frogs remain half-submerged in the water, holding on tightly against the force, while others manage to climb out onto the green, wet grass, seeking stability. Their continuous calling fills the scene—their sound is known as a “croak”, or more specifically a “mating call”, a rhythmic note used to communicate, attract partners, and signal their presence. These frogs are known for their nocturnal and secretive behaviour. They prefer staying hidden during the day and become active at night, usually around streams, rocky wet zones, and fores
