Leaving fully forested patches of land marooned in the middle of an ocean-like river, flowing brown with monsoon-time forest mud, the Ken flows fast and angry through the forested Ken Crocodile Sanctuary and the Panna National Park in central India's Madhya Pradesh. The prolific monsoon rains flow through the chasms of courses of the Ken, often breaching their banks and eating into riverine forests. The water flows so deep and fast through the chasm of Raneh Falls that more than 80% of its depth is eaten up by fast flowing water. The waterfalls have all but disappeared in the monsoon spate!
