Participants covered in bright gulal powder celebrate with music, dancing, chanting, and joyful interactions as the colorful festival transforms the town into a sea of color. The celebration reflects the legendary traditions of the Braj region associated with Radha and Lord Krishna. During Lathmar Holi, men from neighboring Nandgaon visit Barsana and are playfully chased and symbolically struck with sticks by local women in a ritual reenacting Krishna’s playful teasing of Radha and her companions.
