The daily routine of an Indian Army jawan in the 1980's. This is archival footage of a rare period in India. Starting with shaving, (Cherry Blossom!) shoe polishing, hair combing, and the rest of the morning routine. Reading holy scriptures such as the Guru Granth Sahib is part of the routine for Sikh soldiers. Getting into the field for a high altitude patrol and field target practice - all in a day's work. A visit to the local STD or PCO (Public Calling Office and Subscriber Trunk Dialling) are the way they reach their families at home. These were pre mobile phone days. This is archival footage from the 1980's. Letter distribution time is the most awaited when the 'ghar se ai he chithi' reaches their hot little hands. Lunch-time is a much-needed break.
