Cotton cultivation has become a contentious issue in India with genetically modified varieties being sold as seed by the likes of Monsanto. The worry is the dependence of farmers on such seed and their ultimate playing into the hands of big corporations. This farm outside the economically weak town of Godhra has an extensive cotton cultivation that is due for harvest.
