Snow covered mountains of the Himalayan mountain range surrounds one of the oldest and most sacred temple for Hindus. Kedarnath temple stands with a backdrop of high mountains with glacials spewing off. Devotees line up to offer prayers to lord Shiva early in the morning with offerings and chanting of hymnals. Devotees young and old can be seen with offerings of flowers, incense while some ring the temple bells accompanied by religious chats. The temple premises are also home to a number of Sadhus who are going about chanting Vedic hymns. Kedarnath is also an important tourist destination and one of the important points for pilgrims of the Char Dham Yatra. The temple is known to be one of Shiva's residing places in Hindu mythology.
