This southern part of Goa is a mix of paddy fields in post monsoon readiness for harvest, old Portuguese and new Indian style houses, coconut palms, clear open highways (all palm fringed), waterways and water courses, and the odd village with a pub or restaurant. Bikers drive the north-south state highway in Goa, as seen from the air. The forests of Goa are fabulous in density and in their bird populations and with the Mandovi and Panjim rivers, and Panaji town itself, Goa has forest, sea, old world, new world and crowded towns as well as secluded birding hillsides.
