A snow leopard lazily camouflages (3:55) itself according to the rocky trans-Himalayan blending perfectly due to its white-grey coat spotted with large black rosettes. This ability keeps them safe from the intruders of its habitat. Known throughout the world for its beautiful fur and elusive behaviour, the endangered snow leopard (Panthera uncia) is found in the rugged mountains of Central Asia. Snow leopards are perfectly adapted to the cold, barren landscape of their high-altitude home, but human threats have created an uncertain future for the cats. Snow leopards play a key role as both top predator and as an indicator of the health of their high-altitude habitat. If snow leopards thrive, so will countless other species.
