After wheat talks have been harvested from the fields of north India, the wheat stalks are threshed to separate the chaff and the wheat seeds. The chaff and stalks are then cut into minute bits to create cattle fodder while the wheat is bagged for sale in the local anaj mandi or grain market. Seen here in an Uttar Pradesh farm near Meerut, the spring-time wheat harvest is taken care of in a small farm. The finely threshed powdery form is violent stuff for asthmatics and causes much spring-time air pollution from the fine particulate matter it suspends in the air... The fine powder produced is also bagged as it has high fodder value...
