Each day, 2.9 billion liters of waste water from sewage, domestic and industrial sources are dumped directly into Ganga. This is wreaking havoc on Ganga’s natural ecosystem, and in many places along her stretches, fish and aquatic creatures are dying. For example, due to this pollution, in one stretch of the Yamuna, practically no aquatic life has been able to survive for the last decade. The pollution is affecting the millions of people who depend on Ganga for all their water needs.
