Within the Adi community, at the Dite tea Estate, Omak Apang, ex Minister of Tourism, Government of India, discusses his initiatives to bring tea to the smaller villagers and growers of rural Arunachal Pradesh. Seen here at the Dite Tea Estate, he tells us about speciality, suchong, green tea from the Siang valley and organic or organically grown teas in villages such as Komsing and also about the wild varieties of tea that grow in the local forests in Arunachal Pradesh. Catecin content is 19 to 21%, Omak tells us, making it anti-allergic. Only women run this factory at Dite Tea Estate. There is an outreach programme where the team visits small growers and encourages them to grow tea and bring it to the small growers' factory which has been established for them. Omak wants to make Pasighat
