Gegong Apang inaugurates the annual Siang River Festival in Arunachal Pradesh, India. Gegong Apang is an Indian politician from Arunachal Pradesh. Former Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister and senior Congress leader Gegong Apang, who served as the second longest serving Chief Minister in the country with a record 22 years, mostly with the party, has resigned and joined the BJP. Gegong Apang was elected in the 12th Lok Sabha elections and was the agriculture minister from 1977 to 1978. He was the chief minister of the state for 19 years from 1980 till he resigned in 1999. In 2003, he was elected as the leader of United Democratic Front, which was a coalition between his own political party, the Arunachal Congress and several others.
