Nearly a dozen men basking their backs in the blazing sun pull the net towards dry ground outside a ditch in Odisha. The men pulling the wide blue net crowd around the net to pick the fish from among the debris caught in the net. These ditches are common and fishing in them is even more common in places near the sea and big rivers. This is a favoured method of fishing which is time efficient and mostly for domestic consumption.
