People bathe in the Hooghly river at Jagannath ghat in Kolkata in West Bengal. Fishing boats can be seen near the ghats. People on the boat sails the boat on the river. Ferry boats can be seen lined up on the river. The famous Howrah bridge in Kolkata. One can see the tram, car and buses pass through the bridge. A kid washes his cloth on Jagannath ghat. Jagannath Ghat, built in European classical style with a drum-shaped crown atop, stood imposingly on the east bank of the river Hooghly immediately to the north of the present-day bridge. Those days, a long stretch of Hooghly up to Jagannath Ghat remained visible from the far away rooftops of Shimulia houses in North Calcutta as there were no tall buildings in between.
