Traditional Holi celebrations at Prahlad Temple during the famous Phalain Holi festival. The unique and centuries-old Holi traditions of Phalain village in the Mathura district of Uttar Pradesh. At the center stands a massive Holika pyre constructed from wood and thousands of cow dung cakes, prepared for the sacred fire ritual associated with the legend of Bhakta Prahlad and the triumph of good over evil. Large crowds of devotees and visitors gather around the Prahlad Temple complex and nearby Prahlad Kund to witness the extraordinary ceremony in which a local priest, known as a Panda, walks through the blazing flames unharmed after performing ritual preparations.
