The mountains of garbage piled up at Ghazapur - perhaps the largest landfill in South Asia, meet up as chemical leachate with the canal water flowing next door, as liquid forms of pollution meet up underground and flow down to the aquifers below, reaching the ground water that Indians tap into to draw to the surface and drink. So it's one incestuous flow of water, laced with chemicals, from the surface of the ground to the ground water aquifers below, back into the human system and then into the sewage canals that once again recharge the ground water. Evian and Perrier are a far call from the quality of water the average Indian drinks in urban India. Where are we all headed? Some convoluted form of dystopean hell, for sure!
