The immense scale of the Gangasagar Mela, where thousands of Hindu pilgrims gather at the sacred confluence of the River Ganges and the Bay of Bengal. Devotees are seen walking along the coastline and entering the shallow waters to perform the traditional holy dip ritual, believed to cleanse sins and bring spiritual purification. The shoreline is lined with extensive temporary infrastructure including transit camps, tents, service zones, and pilgrim facilities established to support the millions of visitors attending the annual mela during Makar Sankranti. The hazy early morning atmosphere and expansive coastal landscape highlight the scale of one of the world’s largest religious gatherings, second only to the Kumbh Mela in India.as seen aerially, from the air, in this aerial view.
