The lovely yellow chest feathers puff out as this Wagtail preens itself on a rock, all the while wagging its tail up and down, with the A Grey Wagtail incessantly wags its tail, entire body shaking with the movement, seen at our stream-side at Motidhar where the Rispana or Bindal river starts out on wildfilmsindia forest lands in Uttarakhand. Excited at the prospect of multiple insects at the edge of the fresh water, this is a dream location for a Himalayan wagtail. The Grey wagtail (Motacilla cinerea) is a member of the wagtail family, Motacillidae, measuring around 18–19 cm overall length. The species looks somewhat similar to the yellow wagtail but has the yellow on its underside restricted to the throat and vent. Breeding males have a black throat.
