Dal Lake in Srinagar, Jammu & Kashmir truly lives up to its name — the Jewel in the Crown of Kashmir. This scenic view captures the quiet poetry of everyday life on the lake, an elderly man dressed in traditional Kashmiri attire sits on a rustic wooden platform, patiently holding a long fishing rod. Facing the water, he seems completely absorbed in the moment — a powerful reminder of a slower, more mindful way of life. The lake surface is blanketed with dense aquatic plants and lotus leaves, part of Dal Lake Is famous floating gardens. Nearby, traditional wooden boats called shikaras glide gently across the water. Some carry people, while others are filled with freshly cut grass and crops, reflecting the lake’s role not just as a tourist attraction, but as a lifeline for local communities.
